About Us

Bath Guild of Embroiderers are a friendly and welcoming group who all have a love of needle and thread in a variety of forms. We aim to continue learning and improving our skills.

We cover traditional and modern embroidery, both hand and machine work including beading, goldwork, patchwork and stumpwork.

We welcome new members from experienced stitchers to beginners and especially all those who "used to stitch" but have gone rusty and would like to start again.

We have two meetings each month apart from August. We meet on the second Tuesday of the month except for August from 10.00 to 15.00 in the Wansdyke Room at Saltford Community Hall, BS31 3B4. This Hall is just off the A4 and is well signed. It is convenient to reach from Bath, Bristol or the surrounding area and has plenty of parking. There is level access from the car park.

These meetings are a variety of Day Schools with tutors who teach a variety of embroidery related skills and throughout the year we hope to have something to inspire and interest everyone. In December we have a morning workshop, Christmas Lunch and an afternoon talk usually with tea and cake. These meetings need to be booked in advance.

On a trial basis we are holding sociable Coffee and Stitch Mornings every month on the third Thursday of the month at The Beacon Cafe, Hanham Methodist Church, 26 Chapel Row, Hanham, BS15 8SD from 10:30am until lunchtime. We will guarantee that at least one of the committee will be there at each meeting and all you have to do is turn up, there is no need to book. There is no charge, you just need to get yourself a drink and enjoy.

You can look them up on their website Beacon Cafe. There is a picture of the café and a copy of their menu on their website. You can pay the guide prices or make a donation. There is plenty of easy car parking on site.

We generally have a triennial exhibition of members work and this is usually held in central Bath. Our last exhibition was held in 2019 and, owing to the Covid pandemic, we have no plans to hold an exhibition at the moment.

Visitors are welcome to book for any of our events advertised in the current programme with the exception of the AGM and our December Lunch.
